2013 Events

SANDJAM Halifax 2013 presents the Legends Cup and Canada Cup featuring professional athletes from around the world at our waterfront stadium. The Legends Cup (Aug. 12) is a pro tennis exhibition featuring former World #1 Professional Jim Courier, followed by the Canada Cup (Aug 15-18), a beach volleyball tournament with top professional teams from Canada, USA, Germany and Great Britain competing. With both daytime and nighttime games under temporary lights, there is something for everyone at SANDJAM Halifax.

HALIFAX SPORT & SOCIAL CLUB RECREATIONAL BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

AUGUST 11, 2013

Halifax Sport & Social Club will partner with S|E|A and Corona to host a 24 team 6-on-6 co-ed recreational beach volleyball tournament on Sunday, August 11, 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. This tournament will be hosted at the new 12 court Volleyball Nova Scotia Beach Volleyball Facility located at the Harbour East Sport facility in Dartmouth, N.S. on John Savage Drive.

This tournament will provide each team with a minimum of 4 first round games. The top 8 teams advance into the playoff rounds, securing 3 more games to declare a champion!

Registration fee for each team will include choice of general admission tickets to the SANDJAM Halifax Canada Cup Beach Volleyball Tournament August 15th – 18th.

FREE YOUTH TENNIS CLINIC

This professional tennis exhibition features former World #1 Professional and current commentator Jim Courier. This entertaining match will be played under the lights at our temporary tennis stadium at the Sands of Salter lot. The Legends Cup is the first tennis event of its kind in Atlantic Canada.

VIP ATHLETE MEET-AND-GREET

VIP ticket purchasers and sponsors are invited to the VIP Athlete Meet-and-Greet on August 14, 2013 at Casino Nova Scotia from 7:00-9:00p.m. This is your chance to meet some of the world’s top professional beach volleyball players!

By invitation only. Ticket buyers must purchase VIP seating package (4 passes) or Private Courtside Box to receive invitation.

FREE YOUTH BEACH VOLLEYBALL CLINIC

Volleyball Nova Scotia will host a youth beach volleyball clinic featuring participants in the Canada Cup. Clinic begins at 1:00p.m. at the Volleyball Nova Scotia Beach Volleyball Facility located at the Harbour East Sport facility in Dartmouth, N.S. on John Savage Drive.

CANADA CUP | BEACH VOLLEYBALL

AUGUST 15-18, 2013
Beach volleyball returns to the Halifax waterfront with the Canada Cup, a four-day competition featuring professional athletes from Canada, USA, Germany and Great Britain. The inaugural Canada Cup features both day and night time matches. All sessions will include two men’s games and two women’s games.

CORONA EXTRA BEACH PARTY

In the early ‘90s he dominated the men’s professional tennis circuit with a game he fashioned out of grit, determination and punishing inside-out forehand. He was the first in his class of American champions to hold the No. 1 world ranking. In 2005, Jim was honoured by being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Where is SANDJAM happening?

SANDJAM Halifax takes place on the Salter Lot, on Lower Water Street and Salter Street, right along the waterfront.

What times do the gates open?

Gates open 30 minutes before game time.

What is not permitted at the stadium?

  • No outside food or beverage
  • No smoking on site

Is the SANDJAM stadium licensed?

Yes, the stadium is fully licensed, including all seating zones. Bar service is 19+. All ages are welcome in the stadium.

COURTSIDE PRIVATE BOXES

New for 2013, four courtside boxes at court level allow you to be a part of the action as you sit beside the player’s benches! This premier seating location offers a reserved box for the week with seating for 10, catered food options, hostess food and beverage service, access to VIP Honey Huts, access to covered VIP lounge area, two VIP parking passes and one invitation to the VIP Athlete Meet-and-Greet (plus guest).

VIP ZONE

The VIP Zone is ideally located alongside centre court facing the harbour, a perfect viewing angle for all the action. This section includes the only reserved seating in the stadium, bucket seats with seat backs, hostess food and beverage service, access to VIP Honey Huts, and access to covered VIP lounge area.

VIP Packages include four reserved seats for the week, all the amenities of the VIP Zone plus one VIP parking pass and one invitation to the VIP Athlete Meet-and-Greet (plus guest).

SIDE ZONE

The Side Zone is our largest section with grandstand bench seating that gives you a fantastic view of all the back and forth action on centre court. Side Zone seating is fully licensed with access to food and beverage service.
No reserved seating.

END ZONE

The End Zone grandstand seats are positioned on the south end of the court giving you a great vantage point to see the action from the player’s point of view. End Zone seating is fully licensed with access to food and beverage service. No reserved seating.

Corona Extra Zone

The Corona Extra Zone Zone is a great place to hang out and watch the game. This area opposite the End Zone will have 250 seats and a bar area with tables and chairs. The Corona Extra Zone is fully licensed with access to food and beverage service. No reserved seating.
